Beautiful butterfly surprise

This morning when we arrived at school we discovered a butterfly had emerged from the chrysalis.

It's wings looked crumpled because they had been squashed up inside.

The butterfly hung upside down for most of the day to dry out and strengthen it's wings.

"Can you see a tiny caterpillar?", asked Ms Anderson.
"No, we can see eight", replied the children in Room 15.

Just before 3 o'clock the butterfly flew for the first time and landed on the net above the couch.
When it opened it's wings we saw that there were no black spots on them.
This means it is a female.
